5 Black Women With Locs Performance Was Transformative :)

Transformative weekend! I shared artisans space with 4 other beautiful black women with locs! Two nights of performing at the Mascher Space Co-op. The exploration of our journeys came together nicely. I value the experience- reawakened my creative process, thank you! I also got to share space with strangers, family and friends! Dancing with you all was my favorite lol! Looking forward to the next phase. Photo credit Sherneen Berry @Dhalak Ethiopian Restaurant. Photos and videography coming soon! -Gracie ❤

Stonewall Is Alive and Well!

Stonewall Is Alive and Well

In the early hours of June 28, 1969, a group of gay customers at a popular gay bar in Greenwich Village called the Stonewall Inn, who had grown angry at the harassment by police, took a stand and a riot broke out. As word spread throughout the city about the demonstration, the customers of the inn were soon joined by other gay men and women who started throwing objects at the policemen, shouting “gay power.” – See more at: http://www.civilrights.org/archives/2009/06/449-stonewall.html#sthash.qzFV7Q3n.dpuf

I’m Not Straight Or Anything? Straight Woman Giving This Lesbian Vibes :)

Working at the cafe today I noticed an attractive light skinned black woman checking me out. Her blue suit and vintage orange heels were bad! I asked her if I could help her with something. Slightly reserved she said, “forgive me. I know its rude to stare and I’m not gay or anything, but you look very handsome.” Handsome was nice! A man joined her. After ordering they sat at the table next to me! Apparently she passed the bar exam and needed a job! Sexy straight woman giving me mad vibes. It was nice! I believe that we didn’t exchange information largely because we both were shy and were really focused on work lol! We smiled so much at each other and kept glancing. She looked me up and down and I did the same. Vibes were on point. She sure was beautiful and I hope I see her again. -Gracie 🙂

I’m only a poet sometimes

When people ask me if I’m a poet I say sometimes. To me the implication indicates that my creative passion begins and ends with poetry. I’m so much bigger than my body. And the love I feel when in the creative process won’t allow me to fully commit to one concept, or be contained by one idea of what that all looks like. -Gracie
