First convo after I performed tonight was with an elder from Cameroon. He was moved to tears by my performance. Invited me over to where he was sitting to drink and talk. He said, “you’re much more than you can think right now. My heart was heavy, and now it is light. Your face paint and words took me home, made me feel better. You’re blessed with something special. Thankful for people like you on the earth. I feel good.” Screaming! I was humbled so much by his encouragement and dedication to the Nigerian girls and to our very difficult conversation. We talked for a while about his PhD in agriculture and his daughters and son’s PhD’s too who would be doctors soon. He was so proud of his family. ❤ black people. -Gracie
